Celebrating a Decade of Battery Storage Projects
June 17, 2026 – For more than ten years, Centennial has supported commercial and industrial leaders - including Fortune 500 companies - turn energy into a source of resilience, savings, and certainty
This year, Centennial marks a decade of delivering battery energy storage solutions at a wide range of commercial and industrial facilities - from manufacturers, distribution centers and retail centers, to healthcare and research facilities, including Fortune 500 companies.
Founded in 2014, our earliest installations took shape on the African continent - among the toughest conditions anywhere to own and operate battery storage and solar projects - where we kept DHL logistics hubs energized in Uganda and Rwanda and powered more than thirty other sites, including health centers in Ndola and Lusaka, Zambia, and a cement plant on the Congo-Rwanda border.
Proving the model in those environments during our early years as a company informs how we deliver dependable projects for our customers across the U.S. today. From those first systems, built before the COVID pandemic, to the projects we now own and operate in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, our focus has stayed the same: the dependable power that keeps critical operations running.
Centennial takes a long-term approach as an independent, privately owned company, ensuring continuity and accountability for our customers and the communities in which we operate. As a vertically integrated company supported by team members who have been with us since our earliest years over a decade ago, we are a single accountable partner for the full life of the project - our in-house team manages development, engineering, financing, construction, and asset management.
Battery storage has been central to our approach from the start, enabling the facilities we serve to mitigate demand charges, protect sensitive operations from outages and power-quality events, reduce reliance on legacy secondary power sources, and advance their sustainability goals - without requiring the business to take on the capital cost or the operational burden.
What a decade of battery storage has delivered for our customers
- Reliable, continuous power for mission-critical facilities, even when the grid falls short
- Protection for sensitive equipment and infrastructure from outages and power disruptions
- Lower energy costs through demand management, peak shaving, and reduced generator use
- Measurable progress toward corporate sustainability, resilience, and net-zero goals
- Energy independence backed by long-term ownership and hands-on asset management
Ten years in, battery storage is no longer an emerging idea. It is core infrastructure for any organization that depends on reliable, affordable, and sustainable power. We are proud of what the past decade has made possible, and we are building for the next one.
